The weather is getting nice and warm and you can’t deny that lounging by the pool with a drink in hand is top of mind for you this summer.

Regardless of what your choice of beverage may be, there is one thing you’ll need to keep in mind as a parent. You and your child will be surrounded by water.
From the beach to a family or friend’s poolBQ, there’s no denying that swim lessons are key to survival. But what if your little one hasn’t been exposed to swimming classes?
Don’t let the fear of drowning keep you and your family from having a great time. If you have a week to dedicate to your child’s safety, then I highly suggest you check out Baby Otter Swim School. They teach your child how to swim in five days. It may sound impossible, but there are so many advantages in working with a school that immediately takes away the fear from your child’s mind. And yes, they work with adults as well. You can read more about Baby Otter Swim School from last year’s interview with the company’s VP/Director Mindy York.
But if you find yourself in a position where you need a quick solution for you and your baby, I recommend these three floaties:

1. Swimways Baby Spring Float Canopy
This was the very first floating contraption we used with our boys, and shortly after I was fortunate to work on a campaign with Swimways last year. You can read all about our experience with this product here.

2. Stearns Puddle Jumper Deluxe 3D Life Jacket
Using the Puddle Jumper has really helped our toddler not only become more independent in the pool, but has given Jeff and I the ability to enjoy doing laps here and there to really get a workout while still keeping an eye on our son.

3. Speedo Kids’ UPF 50+ Swim Vest
We can’t deny that our toddler is growing out of his Puddle Jumper and slowly transitioning to his “big boy” vest. It’s scary to think that one day he will be swimming on his own. He will be three next month, and although he’s been swimming away with his Puddle Jumper, he needs more practice. We purchased a similar Speedo Kids’ Swim Vest to help him stay afloat.
