The following post has been scheduled in advance. We are currently awaiting the arrival of our second child and details in this post may or may not be relevant at this time.
So many people pray for the day they can conceive their first child, and here we are counting down the days until we meet our second child.
I have told myself several times before the day Jeff and I decided to try again that I wouldn’t be able to survive raising another child. Babies require so much attention, and knowing how drained I felt when Sebastian was born and all that went on in the delivery process, I had sworn one was enough.
But like most parents who experience labor, amnesia kicks in and you forget all the pain and are reminded of all the beautiful moments with your child.
Preparing Myself Emotionally
Being a parent comes with a lot of funny perks. You never realize how much your child is soaking up everything like a sponge until you see it in action.
Sebastian has a lot of my attitude and at times when my head is about to explode, he leans in for a kiss and a hug, just like his father. I’m pretty sure he’s seen me upset at times and has picked up Jeff’s way of dealing with it and it makes me smile.
Oftentimes Sebastian and I will be on one side of the room arguing over something so simple and Jeff is on the other side smirking because Sebastian is answering back just like I would.
Our son is strong-minded, and although it may cause issues between he and I, there’s a sense of relief that he’s willing to stand his own ground.
Raising Two Boys
They say boys are a lot easier than girls, and if our second child is anything like our first, then it’ll be a dream.
Being able to reuse most of the items we’ve purchased and received from family and friends is a lifesaver.
With just two years apart, they’ll not only be sharing their clothes, but they’ll also be able to join in on similar activities. We’ve already talked about getting Sebastian signed up for extracurricular activities within a year or two. I can’t wait to see what Christian gets into.
With just days away — or possibly weeks — until we meet our little man, we’re anxious to hold him in our arms.

These tummy kicks aren’t enough, I want to kiss those little toes!
