Parents often go shopping for school supplies during the tax-free weekend. Although it might sound like a great idea, I will be the first to tell you it is not.

There are a lot of people shopping for the same things. Most of the time you are not getting a deal and lastly, it is more stressful when you cannot find the things you need because others have already stocked up on them for their own family.

Shopping for the back-to-school season can be a lot more fun when you plan ahead. Here is how you can do so without overspending:

1) Focus on what you already have and its condition.

Schools give you a list of items kids will need for the new academic year. On that list are everyday things they’ll need the first week of school.

2) Pick up an item or two while food shopping.

One of the items on your back-to-school shopping list might be wipes. You can pick those up in bulk for your kids’ classes.

3) Get school uniforms early on.

Kids outgrow a lot of things throughout the years, and school uniforms always make the list. The earlier you shop for them, the better. We have been known to buy a uniform shirt or two before the school year ends.

Buying these items a size or two bigger makes it easier to deal with the growth spurts – this is probably one of the best-kept hacks for moms.

4) Buy online ahead of time.

You can’t always predict when your online purchases will arrive, so you may want to order your back-to-school items at least three weeks in advance.

5) Make one last memorable trip.

Whether you’re on a budget or not, it’s important to make sure your kids enjoy their summer break. It doesn’t need to be an expensive trip.

In fact, the more simple, the more memories you get to create.

Hacks For Moms: How To Avoid Stress

Getting the kids ready for a new academic year can be a good time to start organizing yourself as well. Not only does this help inspire the kids to do the same, but it gives you more flexibility as a parent of multiples.

Thinking of ways to improve your day-to-day with kids at home is how you’ll be able to get back time throughout the week. Regardless of how busy your schedule might feel, these mom-approved hacks are sure to help:

Bathe before everyone else does.

It might sound silly, but taking that shower in the morning will make a difference in how you feel throughout the day.

Put a load in the wash first.

Most moms make themselves a cup of coffee before starting their day. Although I don’t drink coffee, I do prep my husband’s cup in the morning.

While the coffee maker runs, I add a load of laundry to the washer.

Fruits on the table for back to school mornings are one of the best hacks for moms.

Keep fruits handy.

One of the best fast-food breakfast ideas I like to grab in the morning is fruit. I also add them to the boys’ morning cereal during the school season.

Prepare uniforms/outfit ideas for the week over the weekend.

Personally, I enjoy ironing out the clothes for the week all in one shot, it makes mornings less stressful. I keep their clothes in the closet laid out for the week. I do the same for my husband’s work attire.

Tidy up daily.

Most weekends are spent cleaning around here. By tidying up throughout the week, I lighten the load for the weekend. It helps to include kids’ house chores as well.

BONUS: Keep a laundry basket by the stairs to grab the misplaced items. It makes for easier cleanup.
