There’s nothing wrong with reinventing ourselves, just as long as you remain true to yourself.

I think I have probably changed up my blog and my posts way more than I change my socks, which is funny because I rarely ever wear socks in FL 😉

When I first started this blog, I wanted to document my life as a mom and all the wonderful things I would experience with my family. I would occasionally share tips to helping other moms cope with things in their lives. Although I still do this with certain posts — mixed in with sponsored ones — I often find myself at a lost for words.

I have thrown the idea around of just adding photos at least once or twice a week just to keep my readers up to date, but I have to iron out my ideas before I begin.
Away, Brainstorming
If you have been following me for the past year you will notice a shortage of posts. I went from having a weekly schedule to completely doing away with it. Honestly, I felt forced to have something every week. For some people, this is a great way to write, but for me, writing has always been one of my passions. I never want to lose the love I have for it just because I want to “get something up.”

Another reason I have decreased in the amount of posts I write is because I am actually busy spending time with my family. With Sebastian only taking one nap a day, I have a limited amount of time to do things around the house, plan time for errands and, of course, squeeze in a nap.

Caring for a toddler while being pregnant sounds like a load, and it really is. Whenever I can nap with my little guy, I do. Although I am not as exhausted as I was during my pregnancy with Sebastian, I am sleeping at a reasonable time. Enough sleep means less pregnancy brain syndrome! It also helps that I keep myself busy with my blog (a personal thing I enjoy) and doing lessons throughout the day with Sebastian (something he loves to do, and helps get him ready for school).

I often sit back and think how balancing it all makes a great blog post, but sometimes I put it in the backburner and focus on sponsored posts I have agreed to share.

Brainstorming Perks
I love thinking of possible posts for my blog, and how my readers can benefit from them. But, of course, there is more behind a blog post.

Some days awesome blog posts come naturally while on others it is probably like pulling teeth. I often have to walk away from my laptop to regroup my thoughts. Writing down my ideas helps. Oftentimes I use my Notes app, but lately I have been writing down my thoughts into the Trello website/app. Trello is an online brainstorming organizer. It helps you gather your thoughts from draft to publish and off to social promo. If you are looking to organize your everyday life, including your blog ideas, Trello is what you need.

Aside from being more organized, brainstorming gives you a piece of mind for the future. Sometimes you will start something with a certain goal in mind only to realize a couple of weeks — maybe even months — down the road you have steered away from it. This is normal, and brainstorming can help you get back on track.

Brainstorm To Save On Time
Jotting down ideas not only helps you stay on track, it also enables you to really focus on what matters most.  There are times I take a break from my blog and start over because I feel I have gone away from my goal, like the time I put all of my energy on the MTME shop. It was exhausting.

Because my blog had not been generating a steady income at the time, I put it aside. Now I generate a comfortable amount from my blog and have let my shop breathe for a bit. Although the MTME shop is still up and running, I am not focusing all my energy on it. In fact, these days, most of my energy goes to my family. And I would not change that for the world.

Do you brainstorm for your blog?

  1. I think it makes perfect sense that you blogs would be a lot better if they weren't on a timetable, and you just wrote them when you felt inspired. I think jotting down ideas is a great idea so you won't forget them.

  2. I am always brainstorming for posts but I never seem to do anything with my ideas. I've kind of been slacking really bad lately. But like you, I have been focusing on my hubby a lot. Family is everything! Thesaltlifewife 😉

  3. I'm hardly writing right now either and I have notebook pages full of ideas. I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things in June but until then I'm putting most of my energy into my family because that's all I have energy for.
