“Don’t let your dreams be dreams.”

Encouraging your child to pursue their dreams, no matter how big or small, is an important part of being a parent. As first-time parents, we always try to encourage our little guy to aim high. Whether it is on the basketball court or while working on projects with Jeff, I think there is so much value in helping your child achieve their goals.

Although Sebastian may be small, he has a big heart and is always willing to help around the house. For us, it is important to offer the same interest in the things he loves.

Jeff and I always joke that Sebastian will one day become a basketball player because he wakes up ready to practice with his basketball hoop and ball. He even concentrates and dribbles the ball before he takes his shot.

Day and night, you will hear him practicing — always aiming for the basket — and even if he misses the shot, he never misses the backboard.

Similar to the girl in the #CRVSueños video, “Space to Dream,” we do our best to help Sebastian reach for the stars, even if sometimes all he really wants to do is reach a certain number of baskets.

Building Your Child’s Confidence
What I love most about the #CRVSueños video is the confidence the parents have instilled in the young girl. She may not have always believed she would be able to attain her goal, but she continued to push herself as her parents supported her every move.

Like the girl in the video, Sebastian will sometimes get discouraged. This is when we step in and explain why these feelings are normal and what he can do about them. We try our best to look for the positive and focus on his strengths while working on his weaknesses.

I will admit that building your child’s confidence is not always easy, but being a parent means finding the strength to give your child the space to explore and discover new things on their own.

Building self-confidence is a great way to help ignite the ignition the fuels your child’s dreams. It is like the new “push to start” option in the 2015 Honda CRV; although you may not have needed it before, it definitely makes the journey a lot smoother.

Every day is a countdown to making dreams come true. Where will they lead you?
