This post is sponsored by PWAT in Pembroke Pines. I received a complimentary painting session from this location. All thoughts are my own.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’d be like to paint while you’re intoxicated, then Painting With A Twist (PWAT) is for you. Last night Pembroke Pines welcomed it’s very first PWAT location to the public with treats from neighboring businesses — and of course, they had wine. Lots of it!
Guests gathered around the hall and in the private room for a brief speech from the owners of the Pembroke Pines location.
Although some attendees only stayed for the introduction and small mixer, future artists made their way to their assigned seats. Plates with acrylic paint were neatly placed before us, and we were allowed to bring our beverages and treats with us to create our masterpiece.
With help from our lovely instructor, we were able to recreate a moonlit sky behind some trees. It might sound simple to you, but if you were in this class, you’d have a couple of question marks popping up as you create a multicolor circle for the moon and a couple of squiggly lines for the tree branches. Together, this combination made the perfect addition to our dining room.
So, what’s so great about PWAT sessions? Here’s a list of five reasons why you should make your way to your local PWAT:
1. There’s wine.
I think this alone is enough for you to close out this post and make your way over for an impromptu girls’ night out.
2. It can bring out the artist in you.
Even if it’s your first time or your 100th time painting something, you have to admit it can be quite therapeutic to sit behind a canvas and create something.
3. You get to keep or gift your creation.
This is one of my favorite reasons. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into, but I was happy I attended this class. My creation is now a new piece of decor for our home.
4. It’s inexpensive and fun.
Each two-hour session is $35. That’s cheaper than going out to a club and getting hit on by the odd guy at the corner of the bar waiting for you or your friends to make eye contact. If you have a really awesome babysitter and want to go for a three-hour session, those go for $45. You can even shut the place down for you and your family and friends. It’s up to you!
5. It’s an excuse to leave the kids at home with your husband.
Let’s face it, you need a break. Last night was definitely something for my friend Miriam and me to take advantage of — there was wine, oldies music and no kids. We were able to just be ourselves and enjoy the moment.
Although I did miss my family, I will admit that I had a wonderful time at the PWAT in Pembroke Pines. They will be seeing Miriam and I in the near future. We already told them we’re bringing friends!
Have you ever tried Painting With A Twist?

I love to paint and I would love to that one day with my girlfriends!
I don’t think I’ve ever attended a PWAT session! It sounds like a lot of fun and it’s an excuse to just enjoy and give yourself some time. I’d love to give this a try!
This sounds like my kind of activity! I love that you can learn about painting while also having fun. It’s definitely something that I’d try!
We have something similar here in the Philippines, but I don’t think they serve wine. I’m not the most artsy person, but I’ll give this a shot for the wine, haha!
Never had an experience of attending a Pwat session but it is always on my list! i wish i could attend someday! it looks like a lot of fun to do!
Wow I was wondering what PWAT meant, and it does sound like my kinda thing. I used to paint well in another life…What a fun way to do so again..drinking wine lol!
This sounds like exactly my idea of a great time. There’s art and creative expression, wine, snacks, and people to interact and socialize with. Um, yes please! I’m going to have to see if there’s anything like this in my area – it really seems so fun!
These are so fun! I constantly have sister dates doing these! It’s great catch-up time and wine-time!
I love PWAT! I used to go all of the time with my girlfriends, it was a great way to bond!
This sounds like my kind of evening! I love the idea of having alcohol involved in these kind of events. I think a lot of people tend to tense up when they attend functions with involving strangers, but once loosen up when they’ve knocked back a glass or two – this actually inst a bad idea! Love it.
