Finding the right time for yourself can be tough when you are busy throughout the week. Learn how you can make Self-Care Thursday ideas a part of your weekly routine.

Most people associate the weekend with a time of resting. However, life might have other plans for you.

There are various ways you can make Thursday a day of relaxation. You can start with a morning routine that includes setting goals for the day.

Other ways you can dedicate a weekday to self-care is by doing the following:

  • Celebrate small wins from the week. This will help you appreciate the simple things in life.
  • Focus on staying hydrated. Drink plenty of water to help with hydration.
  • Go for a walk and enjoy the beauty of nature. This can be a great way to help you clear your mind and appreciate the world around you.

Self-care Thursday ideas can be used as a day to reassess your week and make adjustments where needed. It is up to you whether you would like to connect with others or take the day to be alone.

As you continue to make yourself a priority, you will notice a change in how you feel. From learning how to set boundaries to implementing 5-minute self-care ideas throughout your day.

Putting yourself before others can be beneficial to your own health and to those around you. Making yourself a priority tells others that you matter.

Ignoring your needs can lead to feelings of loneliness and low self-esteem, sadness, and even resentment. Taking time for yourself throughout the week can make a difference in boosting your self-confidence

How you choose to spend your time is completely up to you. The most important thing to remember is to listen to your body.

If your body needs rest, then you should allow your body to rest. The same goes if you need to pace yourself.

At times, life can feel rushed and you might find yourself wanting to match the speed of the day. By pacing yourself, you are telling your mind to be patient and forgiving.

Not only should you do this with yourself, but also with those around you. Raising multiple kids will teach you the value of taking a step back to reassess a situation.

3 Reasons Why You Should Book A Self-Care Day

How you view self-care is important. Think of a self-care day as a time dedicated to being kind to yourself.

Quick fixes – like a bath after a long day – can be helpful in boosting how you feel. However, the feeling is only temporary.

The more time you invest in yourself, the better you will feel. Helping others is nice if you are able to do so.

You cannot fill from an empty cup – cliche, but effective.

Learn to help yourself and help those around you. Taking care of yourself should not take away from helping others, and vice versa.

These 3 reasons can help you understand the value of practicing self-care:

  1. Busy Isn’t An Excuse For The Lack Of Self-Care
  2. Stop Avoiding What Your Body Needs
  3. Kindness Has A Ripple Effect

Being busy is one thing, but not making time for yourself can hurt your health. Your well-being is important as a parent.

Caring for kids can be overwhelming at times. If you are not mentally prepared to address your family, then you might find yourself overreacting to certain situations.

Paying attention to what your body needs is essential. Stop avoiding your need to place others before your own.

Although it might seem nice to sacrifice your time for the sake of others, you need to understand the value of putting yourself first. If you start feeling overwhelmed, then you will need to take a step back.

When you show yourself kindness, then this act will inspire others to do the same. Not only with themselves. People will begin to show others as well.

Feeling your best inspires you to want others to feel it, too.

How Practicing Self-Care Improves Your Day-To-Day Life

How To Create Your Own Self-Care Thursday Ideas Routine

Making time for yourself is based on consistency. Although you might not be able to dedicate an entire day to your well-being, you can try a handful of self-care ideas.

The following options are great for when you are pressed for time and/or would like to create a self-care routine that works for you.

Things To Remember:

Life will not always go according to plan. No matter how much you plan ahead, there will always be distractions.

These distractions only become a problem if you let them. Read the again.

Rethink your self-care expectations and focus on activities that can help the way you are currently feeling. You can opt for quick and easy self-care or set up a self-care schedule during the month.

Choosing to make self-care work for you and not letting the distractions ruin the time you have set aside for yourself can make a difference in how you approach other things in life.

Again, learn to handle distractions and try to see them as yield signs and not a STOP. Approach with caution and continue on with the journey you have set out to accomplish.

Simple activities you can practice today that can help improve your mental health:

  1. Limit your screen time. Turning off the news, and closing out tabs from your browser can help you refocus your energy.
  2. Get inspired. Read a book or a magazine and get inspired by the layout, colors, or passage to create something magical.
  3. Declutter your space. Removing excess items from your home can bring joy into your life. Whether you decide to start with a room or a part of your living area it is up to you.
  4. Be thankful. Whatever you might be feeling at the moment can be due to a lack of feeling connected to the world around you. At times, you can find yourself mentally exhausted with everything going on. Use this moment to just be grateful to see another day, to breathe.

  1. I couldn’t agree more about making time for self-care, I’ve realised that being a parent and running other duties and business can sometimes get overwhelming. I was asked recently by a friend what I wanted to do for my birthday, and she suggested a party or perhaps to go for a wine tasting afternoon. But what I really needed to do for my birthday was to spend time by myself alone. So, without intentionally wishing I could do it alone, it happened that way, my friends were unavailable, the kids were in school and I booked a very long luxurious spa day which I desperately needed. I was so happy that day because it doesn’t happen often if at all. Your post came at a time when I needed reminding that I must make time out for smaller self-care activities. I will check out the self-care posts that you have for families as I feel that’s an area I’m neglecting. Thank you so much for this post.

    • I’m glad you took the time out to celebrate YOU! I’ve always felt birthdays are personal and you should enjoy them however you please. Happy belated birthday! I hope you’re having a lovely week!

  2. Having a self care is really important to regain back our energy after being drained from all the stresses in life. Thanks for sharing this and encouraging us to not forget ourself no matter how busy our schedules would be.

  3. It’s a good idea to schedule and commit to one day a week to self care. It’s too important to just skip!

  4. I have to admit that I am finally doing a much better job at taking care of myself mind, body and soul. It makes a difference in how I treat others.

  5. Self-care is so important for not only the body but mental health too! All of these are great ideas 🙂 I will be doing a bit of selfcare this Friday on my day off, my lower back has been hurting so I plan on sleeping in, then doing some yoga and relaxing on the sofa for a bit with an ice pack.

  6. My life is so busy as a stay-at-home mom with a three-year-old. I’m grateful that my husband works from home and can watch her for an hour before he logs on to work. I use this time to exercise and do yoga and get ready for the day in peace. I still feel burnt out at times, and I love the idea of self-care Thursday! This is doable, and I will try this!

  7. Self care is really important to all of us! Taking care of our self is like taking care of our future and our families!
