You never know how much you miss someone until they’re not around.

My parents thought we were crazy for moving to a different state without their help to raise our son. After about year and a half of living in South Florida, I think we have done a pretty good job with Sebastian.

But it is not raising my son that scares me, it is starting over with baby number two and not having the help I had during my first pregnancy. I know my parents will come visit here and there, but it will not be the same.

Keeping My Cool
Breathing is probably the best way to deal with any type of pain — big or small. I have been controlling the urge to throw up since the day the pregnancy test said I was expecting. Lots of fluids and healthy snacks to cool off the cravings. One of my biggest fears about having a second child while raising a toddler was not being able to cope with a growing baby inside and my toddler’s tantrums. But here I am today, mastering it one day at a time.

Redirecting my son’s focus helps a lot on “bad days,” and lots of breathing and talking to myself. Peptalks are always a good idea. Although talking to yourself might sound insane, it definitely keeps you sane.

Another way I keep my cool while raising my little family is thinking about how my parents were able to raise four without any complaints. And now they are helping my brothers raise theirs. <3
