When you enter the wonderful world of motherhood you quickly begin to realize that it’s no longer about you. Your needs are often thrown out the window and you’re staring at your new boss.
You’re almost tempted to cut your hair very short to make personal care less time-consuming. Nights are tough for a good two to three months and you think twice about whether or not this whole parenting thing was meant for you.
The last part is something you might question several times in your life as your child continues to grow. Terrible twos? Forget it, wait until they hit four!
Making Time
The key with any child is to make time for them, but also, the key to your sanity is making time for yourself. Yes, it sounds nearly impossible, but there are quiet moments. Those are the ones I like to take advantage of. Whether it’s simply hoping on my laptop to get some work done or laying down and catching up on the Cooking Channel, I get that “me” activity in.
The concept of the “me” activity isn’t my own. I actually heard a fellow blogger mention it on one of her Instagram Story sessions. It stuck with me because I had been feeling overwhelmed with everyday life, and I needed something to help me cope with some of the emotions I had been feeling. You know, mom guilt for wanting to take time for myself and mom guilt for not spending enough time with the kids.
I was a mess at the time, but I was happy when I started focusing on “me” activities throughout the week. From skincare to writing, it all helped me rediscover my passions — writing and networking. I made time to get back to my blog and working with other bloggers.
A lot of the products I had received from companies were just staring at me, waiting for me to get started on their reviews. It was nice to get back to using a certain brand, even after I had completed the campaign. There’s something about discovering brands that really do what their labels claim.
Have you added “me” activities to your daily routine?

I agree with you. Some “me” time is so good for ones sanity and well being. I’ve learned the hard way, but I’ve learned and with two beautiful daughters and a husband that claims attention some “me” time is always on schedule.
Oh that mom guilt is a heavy one. I get it every time I have to do some work. And at the beginning I did cut my hair short lol. I am learning to give myself some self love, little by little.
I am not a mother myself but I respect this so much. For your own mental sanity sometimes you have to get away from the responsibilities in your life. Being the daughter, being the wife, being the sister, being the friend, being the mother, these are all responsibilities that take massive chunks of your energy away so its imperative you spare some of that for yourself!

Me time is so essential! I try to make time for myself each day even if its just 15 minutes.
It’s so important to have “me” time no matter who you are. This is the time of day that you can reflect on what’s going on in your life, relax, and unwind.
I always say parenthood means it’s no longer about you. It’s now about the little one that knows nothing about this world.
Taking time to do something for yourself is so important. There are so many times when we are just busy busy busy and we forget that is such a vital part of health.
